Nova SBE Summer School - ProAction 2021: Climate Action

Nova SBE has launched its brand new summer program: ProAction.

ProAction offers an experiential learning process. From direct experience in the real world, the program is based on an “out of traditional classroom” methodology involving a challenge owner – a business, city, region, or NGO.

Our 2021 edition, taking place from 21 June until 2 July 2021 at our sunny beach-front Carcavelos Campus, will focus on Climate Action (SDG 13) which will be addressed from the perspective of transforming cities, advancing green growth, and safeguarding our oceans. Students have the opportunity to initiate lifelong learning through the development and application of academic knowledge and skills in new settings. Beyond that, your students will initiate impactful change. Challenge owners will implement the outcomes of the 2021 edition and report on its implementation a year later at the Estoril Conferences in 2022.

An international experience is a crucial element in a student’s journey allowing them to learn and grow in an intercultural environment, and supporting them to obtain new knowledge and skills. Students will be assessed based on their active participation during the summer school, preparatory and final course work. The successful completion of all these elements awards them with an equivalent of 6 credits (ECTS). Bachelor Students, Master Students, and recent graduates from all disciplines as well as young professionals with a passion and commitment for the Global Goals are invited to join our program. A short program presentation can be found here.

The safety and well-being of the students joining our ProAction Edition 2021 are our highest priority. We accept that the situation is currently volatile and will continue to be so for some time. However, with the rollout of vaccines, we are confident that our summer school can take place as planned. To address potential concerns, we will keep the early bird fee for all applicants who applied and were accepted to our summer school before March 31, 2021, until May 16, 2021. This means that students can apply now, and if accepted, only decide at a later stage if they are able to travel and participate. If after May 16, 2021, there are local or Portuguese government restrictions on travel, that prevent students to travel, we can provide students with full refund on fees.
